January 27 - Rest in Peace

I just came off this fantastic weekend in Los Angeles with the San Francisco girls (to be blogged), but met unfortunate news at 8pm that evening. The loss of our dear Prophet Gordon B Hinckley. This man has stood at the head of this church for the majority of my life. He has felt like a dear friend. I remember the first time I was in the same room with him at a Women's Conference down town. I was surprised by my awed experience as we stood in respect and silence. Surprised that it was the first time I had been close to him as he already felt like family. I think most of us feel like he looks like in this photo. Very selfishly I want him to be here with us instead, but comforted to think he is reunited with this precious Marjorie and will be rewarded for his valiant service to so so many. I am so grateful for his example, faith, humor and love. May we all be blessed with someone so special in our lives.

January 19 - Bunch O Bowlers

A bunch of my friends from the ward went bowling. I love to bowl.
Just some silly pictures of the night.

January 12 - Adventures in Utah County

Amanda and I went down to visit a friend in Utah County. When we approached her car, she looks down and asks, "Is that a boot?" Sure enough, there is a very small sign at the entrance of the parking lot to his building warning a curfew, if you will, on parking. We unknowingly exceeded that time and had to wait over a half hour and pay a pretty fee to be on our way.

*Just another reason why I am not a fan.

January 10 - Crazy Duos

Before roommate Steph's Jordy went into the MTC we did sushi and movie. Classic.

January 9 - Hook Me Up

Went on another blind date. This time was more of a 'we need someone for my friend so we can all go on this group date' kinda thing. Half expecting it to be this big deal, but turned out to be Training Table and Guitar Hero. It was fun. Didn't seem interested on either end.

January 7 - Party of Five

I got to visit with Nikki, Brandon and their three little ones briefly when they were in Utah. Nikki looks so great. I'm so excited for them.

January 6 - Just Another Sunday

We met up at my sister's in Ogden for Sunday dinner.
My neice, Madison, showed off her talents. Of which I couldn't begin to do even one. Must be a gene I wasn't born with.My nephew, Porter, who is huge and always perfectly content, especially in his Chick Magnet shirt.
My brother-in-law's parents mastered the Wii. Isn't it great that Grandma and Grandpa can go bowling with their six year old granddaughter?
I secretly love that I've mastered Darts over my mom and sisters. :)
(Can you tell who's turn it was?)
I've said it before...my family is crazy...but I think that is what makes them family. Love 'em.

January 5 - Logan Excuse

I went with Amanda up to a wedding reception in Logan. We mostly just wanted an excuse to go visit with Randi. Logan has some good restaurants.I had the salmon.
( I've been told that apparently it is weird to take pictures of your food.)
Gavin is getting so big. This face makes me smile. This is when Randi was strapping him back into his highchair. Evidentially thrilled.

January 13 - Choir-side

This is everyone from our ward that participated. We have such a fun group.
I really really enjoy my ward.

So it went pretty well yesterday. Here is where I was sitting wearing red. We sung a song to open and then close. You can link to BYU tv choose Sunday, January 13th then scroll to the CES Fireside. :)

January 4 - Lights Out

I tracked down this restaurant I had visited once years ago, it is called Gepetto's in Holladay. It has a very San Francisco feel to it. Cozy, meaning small, and sporting a live musician, meaning a woman and her guitar. We ordered the cheesebread with mushrooms, strange but completely delicious and the combination pizza. Just after we received our main dish, the power went out because a car hit a telephone pole nearby. So there we sat eating our pizza in the dark while the musician continues to play and sing. By far the coolest thing that I have done this year. :)

January 5 - Necessary Evil

I've had a ton of problems trying to register my car this year. One of the fun things I got to do was buy new tires. I went to this place called Tire Zone located at 2990 S State Street in Salt Lake. They were so great. I called about a dozen places and though their prices were comparable, they were very nice and I could tell would be great to work with. I think especially because I am a single female, I tend to be treated differently, but not here.
Highly recommended.Ps. It's been great having new tires in the snow we have been having. No more worries.

January 1 - New Year

Double dating Shelley style. The four of us went to Cold Stone and I had the Founder's Favorite - very tasty. We played games too :) . I chose case #10 the $1,000,000 in Deal or No Deal and sold it for something like $345, 000. It was a silly game, I should have went all the way because I had nothing to lose. Gambling is something entirely too stressful for me.

January 13th - TV Debut

The University of Utah Institute was asked to provide the choir for the CES Fireside Broadcast. I joined. It will be this Sunday at 6pm MST and aired locally on BYU TV ch. 11. I'm singing soprano and will most likely be wearing black?? Thought you might like to know if you don't have anything to do on Sunday night.

Here are some more broadcast details.

It has been a lot of fun going to practices. I'm reminded of my days in choir in high school and why I enjoy singing so much. Ward choir just doesn't have the same feel. I'm considering joining the institute choir permanently, but I have quite a load this spring so it is still up for debate. :)

December 31 - New Years Party

Okay, so I think I mostly took pictures on New Years Eve. We hit three parties. It was fun.
